Black History Bowl

The Black History Bowl was held Monday, February 28 at the Merrill West High School cafeteria. This event was attended by over 100 students and parents. There was participation from a broad spectrum from the Tracy School District.

The event was hosted by Paul Hall (TAAA Education Chair) and sponsored by Tracy African American Association, Tracy’s Delta Sigma Theta, Tracy African American Educators Association, Merrill West BSU, and the Tracy Unified School District.

The audience was entertained by the poetry and spoken word by students from the TSUD. The students ranged from 4th grade to high school.

There was a special performance by Chyrah Woods who sang “I Am Changing”   a cappella to a standing ovation.

The contest, Black History in a “Jeopardy Style”, was emceed  by Nancy Young (TAAA Treasurer) to 2 teams of three players each. The contest was close with team 1 winning the final question.
